I've purchased a 2 camera back-up system that I plan to install myself. I've got 2 rocker switches to go in the blanks on the lower left side of the dash. I already know that I can go from the positive battery terminal up to the switches- i'll split it and hook up to these switches and then run 2 positive leads to the back of my prerunner 4door bed. one of these positive leads i'll wire in the wireless receiver/camera grounding to the chassis. then i'll wire a 2 way quick connect with the unused positive lead and a ground and position it next to the 7-way connector for my camper. then i'll make up a positive and ground leads to hook up at the quick connect and run it to the rear of the camper to hook-up the camera that i'll mount on the center of the spare tire cover. by doing it this way rather than only being able to use the cameras when activated by the back-up lights I can switch them on or off independently. my only real question is in where to tap into a positive power supply that operates in the accessory or running position of the ignition switch to wire up the receivers getting the signal from the transmitters at the cameras. i'm leaning towards tying this into the cigarette lighter/accessory plug on the top end of the center console. anyone have a suggestion?

You could use the accessory fuse in the dash, lower left hand side behind cubby next to steering wheel. Run a fuse tap, they sell them at all the auto parts places.

thanks for the info Samuel. what gauge wire would you recommend for running to the back of the truck, and the leads to run to the back of the trailer? these cameras didn't come with much technical info, but they're small and I can't imagine them drawing much current. I just don't want to go too light on the main wiring and get into a resistance problem.

It depends on how many watts you need for wire size. I downloaded a free app on my phone. You only need to enter 12 for voltage and how many watts or amps and it tells you the correct gauge. I wouldn't think two cameras take much so if I had to guess I would run 12gauge which is probably overkill. I would run my negative to the closest part of the frame. But if the instructions it came with are diffrent than I would follow those.
