The wiring harness connecting the battery and fuse box to the starter motor, alternator, and ground are affixed in a couple places with clips or brackets marked with the number “15”. The forward of these two releases easily by squeezing a tab, but the clip farther back seems to be connected with a split plug. Is there a method to open this clip to release the cable, or free the mounting plug from its hole without destroying it?

Surely anyone who has replaced this harness has had to confront these mounting clips.

I cant help on these exact clips unfortunately. But I have used WD-40 in the past to soak the release tabs down. Makes the plastic slippery enough and helps release rather than cracking or breaking.

That method works especially well if you can get a pair of needle nose pliers on the back side of the clip to release it from its mounting hole

Till I got the Tacoma is was just cable ties which was easy snip do what needed done new cable ties .

Any more side cutters are my go to for removing old plastic clips.

I had heard a heat gun is nice for getting the plastic soft to work with

I would rather cable tie a harness or cable to a bracket then be extracting broken bolts after the last one turned into a few thousand $$ in repairs.

Thanks for the tip, Blackbird- didn’t help here, but may well down the road.

Does anyone know the name of these parts? Would help to find instructions how to open them.
