Electrical or door issue??

Looking for a starting point on where my problem might be. Little background: 2003 Tacoma xtra cab manual v6

• my dome light works on and off-i leave it turned off now
• the auto door locking feature works maybe 1 in 50 times of starting up my truck.
• no headlight on warning, keys in ignition warning (don't think these have ever worked in the year i've had the truck)

Does that sound like the door jamb switch or possibly something electrical under the dash etc.? Side note:

• speaking of door, every now and then when i go to unlock my doors with the key fob, i'll press unlock and hear the beep but the doors wont unlock. I'll press again and it "locks" then when i press a 3rd time it will unlock the door.

Not sure if related or not but would be nice to fix that as well.

 

I'm sure someone will chime in but you need to be specific with what it is you're driving. So far I know it's a truck with electric door locks.

I would check the flex connection between the door and the A Piller/cab hinge mount. After 15+ years of the wires flexing every time you open/close the door Ill bet that they are frayed.
