    Hey guys,

Can anyone point me in a direction of where to start doing a complete electrical overhaul on my baby. She is a 2001 Tacoma, SR5. I need a completely new electrical engine harness for sure and thought I may as well do all of the wiring while I am at it. Please advise.

    Thank you!

I'm assuming an engine fire? What exactly is wrong, and what do you need?

Find someone parting one out. You'll be way ahead vs. trying to fab one

Sorry I wasn't more specific guys. I have shorts EVERYWHERE. 2 batteries in as many months. I just got a new alternator so I'm fairly sure that isn't the problem. Radio won't power up and the lights are in and out. close enough call on that engine fire guess. I rolled it off roading and got some smouldering lines going. Basically, how do I go about rewiring the entire rig?

If you're having a time tracing down a short, break or parasitic draw you're not going to have any fun building harnesses. I recommend buying a good DVM and and looking at YouTube videos on how to use.

If you want to start replacing harnesses .

The engine harness The cab harness unless your real lucky if buying used what you buy might be worse then what you have .

Then you need the same year and specs as yours

I just bought a new engine harness if I remember it was around $400.00
