Yes you could do that provided they are not GFI breakers and the panel will except them but he does not want tandem breakers. He could do a home owner trick like land two wires on one breaker provided they are a two wire breakers not all breakers are two wire I think SquareD is the only one.

So I take it no electrician in OP location.

Check GFCI plugs. My plugs in my garage went dead in my last house and there was one that was GFCI, hit reset and everything was good.

Well as it turns out , with regard to Canadian Electrical Code , this cheap DIYer TacomaWorld ahole was right , garage recepticles have no requirement to be GFCI protected unless within 1.5m of a sink , hence my question , and even though you came off like a total dick , I agree that cheap DIYers suck , the whole " a little knowledge is a dangerous thing " is very true , especially in home construction which incidentally is what I do , 27 years a carpenter and 16 years with my own residential custom home business .

So I apologize to the OP for not realizing that your code requires garage recepticles to be GFCI protected even though I still think that requirement is dumb

Best of luck sorting out your issue

I briefly read through some of the posts but lost interest in the code squabble. As mentioned check to see if there is power at the outlet and/or a GFCI has been tripped. To do this start with one of these. Just plug it in and read the lights on it. Cheap and available at Home Depot and just about everywhere else. Has instructions and a little table printed right on it.

Plug it into an outlet. No lights? Move on to the next one... If a GFCI has been tripped it will tell you, if there is no power at all, it will tell you.

I see you did some homework OZ-T. I agree that some things don't make sense but you know as well as I, to pass inspections you have to do what the inspectors want. As for Brianz's rant I think he's just expressing his opinion, no offense Brianz don't want to get into an argument, just my take.

Ok let's set the record straight and be done with it, OZ T all I was saying that anytime someone gives information or asks a question someone on TW always has a smart ass remark. So if the shoe fits then I'm a dick. Maybe I had a bad day, And to the DYIers remark there is a lot of stupid out there and stupid can't be fixed.
    Coma03 no problems dude.
But again if people don't know what they are doing, call someone that does. I don't claim to be an electrician, but you can hurt yourself, others and even do property damage or worse.
