Now that I think about it, shouldn't this be the trailer brake control setup? In the parts store today looking for pads and rotors the woman asked if it was equipped. I was just getting pricing and at the time didn't think of it being for trailering; if it is.

In another thread someone asked about what kind of rotors to buy. At advance there were only a few choices to choose from and I believe they were carquest something. At Hill tire the counter chick says she believes their in store parts most of them are mighty or mity, or however it's spelled. Both that place and advance were around the same at 38 bucks a piece per rotor and both had a 2 yr warranty. I was under the impression as that thread said, folks were talking about not to get cheap rotors. Well at the part stores, what choices are there? There are only a few

well. the option should be if you have vehicle stability control, not if you have trailer brakes setup. or if your rotors are 319 or 297mm diameter. if you want to make sure youre getting good rotors, go either with dealer or napa ultra premium rotors with some ADO pads, or akebono pads from carquest/advance auto parts.

advance has carquest rotors, 35 each with electronic brake control and 32 without
napa has professional for 27, and Wagner for 43 each.

Pads Napa has a wagner for 41 a set, silencer 17 a set.

Advance pads are 38 for the gold, 17 for the silver. I will go with the wagner's or the gold for the pads and gotta decide which rotors.

I worked at NAPA for 7.5 years, corporate stores don't sell Wagners. If they have wagners they aren't a real NAPA store. They are only allowed to have these lines: Ultra Premium, ADO Racing pads, Safety Stop, and True Stop brake pads along with other manufacturers like akebono from the Altrom supplier. And if they are an independent NAPA store that sold wagners, their going to be fined by Genuine Parts Company, the owners of the NAPA name, for selling competitor products under the NAPA name. They might just be an unofficial NAPA store. One that can order napa products but don't claim to be a napa or have NAPA as their name. Now though, I'm working at Carquest/Advance Auto Parts.

But no, "Electronic Brake control" doesn't refer to the trailer brakes. It's just referring to vehicle stability control option which apparently started in 2004. You should be able to see a VSC symbol on your cluster light up when the motor is off with the key in the run position. The symbol should say either "VSC" or have an image of a car with swirvy lines behind it. Youll find out when you go to put the new pads/rotors on which you have. Unless you want to remove the tire and measure the rotor while it hangs on the hub.

Ended up getting the Napa rotors as they are made in the USA and that was important. Got their ceramic pads or which ever ceramic ones they had. As for the electronic brake control, it seems that some places were saying it doesn't matter and as long as you have the correct number of lugs and the correct size of the rotor you should be fine.
