She's a little dirty and probably needs a new wick too.

is the wick going through the coil or just jam next to it?

I trust MY own friends, but not someone else's ;) Too many degrees of separation there. You were asking me to trust your friends, and I don't even know who YOU are. Nothing personal. Even my friends have different tastes than me, thus different recommendations. I like to see things with my own eyes for the best interpretation.

Forget deeper wells and go with wider ones. 28mm wide RDAs built for 26650 mods will hold so much more than a 22mm RDA. I hate having to drip too much, especially on long drives. I can get about 15-20 good hits on a low sub-ohm dual coil setup on the wider tanks (sorry magikbean, using my own experience instead of a buddy's). I built a handful of dragon coils, too, and they work good for a little while but man do they crust up quick. I got tired of pulling wicks out at least once a day to dry fire and clean the crust off of them. 24 gauge spaced coils FTW.

I'm confused by the math they're using. Unless there's a big voltage drop built into the circuitry, the Ohm's Law math doesn't work.

Ok here's an example.. at a .16 ohm coil build and at the nominal 3.7v minimum you get from a charged battery, that calculates to 85.5625 watts. The max on the DNA40 is 40 watts, correct? How could that work out? AND, if you have a fully charged battery which is usually at 4.2v and used the same coil, you'd be pulling 110.25 watts! This tells me that there's a voltage limiter then, which would have to drop the voltage to 2.5 volts to achieve 40 watts with that low of an ohmage.

Everyone with me here? I don't want that kind of voltage drop, sorry. It really cuts the current down by about 40%.

Do these mods use capacitors to store current?

Caps are usually used for instantaneous power needs, not ones that draw out over a couple seconds during firing. I haven't seen any caps on the circuits to any of my VV devices yet.

I hardly ever see anyone vaping that low with a variable wattage mod, typically it's a 1.2-1.7 ohms, which is a little bit more likely. 1.6 ohms at 4.2 is roughly 8.8 or 9 watts, given you are using a 2400mA battery. Ramp it up to about 30 or so and you get a much hotter vape.

It's through the coil. It's not the prettiest build, nor does it chuck a lot of vapor, but the flavor is phenominal.

Right, most don't. But this device claims to allow vaping down to .3 ohms, which wouldn't allow it to be operated at the rated max wattage.

Probably does a step down, I know with the DNA's if you try to do so low that it won't allow you to fire off the device.

Right, so according to Ohms Law calculations, you couldn't actually run it a .3ohms because of the shutoff feature. I'd like to test it, but I have no interest in owning one.

Since I have mine coming in, I'll run a few tests for you and let you know what it does, how it does it.

Anytime. I wanna try to start developing a more in depth look at mods as far as voltage drop, how certain atty's work, etc.

Well definitely not pretty but I made my first coil tonight .4 ohms starting out and by the time it was ready to hit .5

Patriot rda nemesis clone mod with a Sony 30a battery. The hardest part for me is getting the coils to glow quickly and from inside out. Also used 26g kanthenal wire (vape shop had that or 30)

It helps to heat the coil up to hot red, release the trigger and squeeze the coil tight with tweezers.

and the distance of the wire from the the coil to the pos and neg need to be pretty identical on both coils.

Gotcha. I plan on rebuilding in the morning or Saturday on a fresher battery. ( I have been messing with it on the stock .6 ohm patriot coils.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
Is there a reason you made them angled vice parallel to the deck?

Just the way they came out for some reason. Also the coils that came on the Patriot were angled as well
