Thanks for the info! So you would recommend a dripping RBA over a tank like the Kayfun style? I have read that it is the better option to go in terms of performance, but I'm wondering if I'm more suited for a tank considering I use it frequently on the go. For example, if I'm on an hour long drive, where I'm vaping fairly heavily, am I having to constantly be refilling? Or say at a concert or something, am I carrying around juice so I don't run out?

The only reason I'd chosen to go the 26650 was due to the longevity and convenience of the battery life. How soon does a single 18650 drop to say 3.6/3.7v for someone who goes through only about 1-2ml/day on my current setup? I'd much prefer carrying around something lighter.

Sorry in advance for a bit of my ignorance as I've only recently started researching the subject.

I like a dripper instead of a tank, solely because of the airflow. There's no tank out there that allows a good open draw that isn't a POS. I messed with the Kayfuns and Russians but just couldn't get enough draw on it. They are fine for road trips, but I'm so used to dripping and getting big open hits that it doesn't bother me anymore to drip & drive because the hit is so huge. When I go on long road trips, I just take my VTR vv mod and run an iClear 30s tank on it. I can go for a full day before needing to refill, and a single 18650 will go all day strong. But, it's a tank and airflow sucks.

1-2ml of vaping will easily give you a full day on a good brand 18650 like a purple eFest or a Panasonic. I could vape about 8-10ml in a day on one 18650 eFest on my Magneto. If you want lighter, stick with an 18650 mod and go with a good battery.

No need for apologies! We've all been there. I'm learning something new every day about vaping, and it's been 2 years for me.

Well after what seemed like a zillion hours watching youtube reviews, reading forums and retail websites. I was overwhelmed with information. I just bit the bullet and got a variety of stuff to test the waters. Ended up with each a copper AND a stainless SMPL mech mod clones, a magma RDA clone, a Kayfun 3.1 clone, a few Purple efest 18650's, 100ft of 28g Kanthal, and a ton of organic cotton. That way I can try out several scenarios and see what fits best and then make a decision to jump to some higher quality pieces or not. Plus all that still came in under 100 bucks..

Now THAT's the way to do it. You'll have a nice little collection plus backups, and you can experiment till your heart's content. I recommend also getting some 24 gauge kanthal wire because it's so robust and heats up nice. 28 gauge is a great size to practice with, especially with microcoils. For the big open coils like I build, the 24 gauge is awesome. It's low resistance though, so you need to make them big, like 1/8" diameter at least 4-5 wraps. The eFest batteries can handle it all though.

Have fun with your new toys and let us know how your first experiments go.

So my first build on the Kayfun... 1.22 ohm chimney coil. Took awhile to figure out how to get it not to gurgle. Not bad. Great flavor at first compared to my nautilus at least. However, after a several vapes I'm getting a slightly burnt taste. Not sure of the culprit. I didn't use too much wick I don't think. Any thoughts?

Also, holy nicotine buzz..never got that from the previous setup

the new aspire atlantis is a sub ohm tank setup. look it up. its a step up from your nautilus. if you want a easy build platform and a legit atty, get the mutation x v2 or a clt v2 plus. for mods, i really like my anarchist clone. my friends love ther smpl clones. i recently picked up a legit tugboat mod and atty. the atty lacks in air holes, so no clouds, but the taste is great. the v2 is a big improvement.

Not enough wick will be one culprit for sure. Your wick is your friend, helping to hold juice right up against the coil. If your coil has any dry spots, it will heat up bright red and burn off any "crust" on the coil and give a bad taste. You could also be vaping too fast, not giving time for juice to soak back into the coil from the last hit.

Odds are you're scorching wick or burning coil crust. Either increase your juice or airflow, or make sure you have enough wick in the build to hold sufficient juice to the coil(s).

Also consider a horizontal coil build. Juice wicks more evenly from both ends and keeps the coil wetter more evenly.

Buddy needed a mod so I set him up with the copper 49 and the doge. First problem found was the efest batteries I got for it wouldn't fit with the rda screwed all the way down. Ended up using a vtc4 and it fit.

I've got that one thing, and that other one thing, oh yeah and that other other one thing.
Look into the Orchid by Aethertech, and the 528 Custom Vapes one offs, both of those suck air just like a dripper, and produce one hell of a cloud.

Still not a true open draw though. Those airholes aren't near big enough to be compared to a dripper.

I was reading online a guy drilled them out larger, but the videos I saw on it showed pretty decent clouds for a tank

What tank are you running? I make big fat dual coils in RDAs, not RBAs.

That's a leakfest waiting to happen. Those holes have to stay small enough or you loose the semi-vacuum and the juice just oozes out. Maybe with 100% VG it might work ok, but nothing would be big enough to get a true open draw.
