Elite 1st Gen Front Bumper Group Buy #2

Yeah, my stock skids fit just fine but I had to modify the front edge/mounting lip on my budbuilts to ge them to fit.

By design these skids will only mount in one spot, the countersunk holes are what align it. On mine I found the mounting tabs on the bumper were too far recessed and the gap between the radiator and the tabs too narrow for the front lip on the budbuilt skid to fit up in there correctly.

IIRC, had to trim off about 3/4" off the front lip.











After trimming they fit up fine.

 

So the lip with the holes to mount it to the bumper was to long and you had to cut that?

 

yup, about 3/4" of the 2 3/8" lip

 

That's not to bad. So you just welded it back up and it was good to go?

Both of you guys need one of these bumpers.

Bon, I know its kinda hard to picture without having the bumper to see how the skid mounting brackets on the bumper are recessed up a little bit from the bottom back edge of the bumper. The pics don't really do it justice.

Noting had to be welded.

To make the skid fit up into that recess we cut a 3/4" strip off the very front edge of the bb skid. Used a port-a-band to do it. This makes that front lip on the skid about 1.5" wide instead of 2.25" wide so it will fit up into the recess.

Maybe Jerry will take some better pics of this than I did.

 

I think I get it now. Hmmm I am working on getting the whole setup man both bumpers and sliders just waiting for the word

Once you had your bumper and winch on did you sag in the front at all and what size tires do you have? If you did sag did you crank up on your coilovers?

 

Not much sag at all. I was expecting a little. Bumper with winch + 130, full budbuilt kit + 120 and sliders... I estimate a net gain of 300 lbs over stock. the eibach coils on the SAWs have handled it well. If you look at the axle angles, I'm still fairly conservative but yes, I can crank in more if I need to. Those tires are 32s.

 

So you don't have that much in the front a lot less than what I expected. If I get one of these I will not always have the winch in there so I am looking at less. I have the kings with 650lb springs so I should be ok and my angles are worse than yours but I like the amount of lift I got. The tires fit well on your truck I hope I can still run 33's once I put everything on.

 

yea i wouldn't worry about that man. Hell JLee had the Eibachs and they are 620lb coils and he had a winch and the bumper and ran 33s. It'll be fine, no worries.
