Talk earlier in the thread has me nervous for mine (purchased outside of the GB) -- especially with Tim so hard to get ahold of and double check everything... That's a lot of steel to have if it's not something you paid $1,000 for.

I just thought I'd let you all know, I spoke with Tim a few days ago about my order since half of it arrived. He works another job in addition to building these and is cranking these out every minute he has available. I've never met him before but he was very professional and polite concerning my order and offered good customer service when an issue arose.

No doubt about that. He should (or at least I would) take our eagerness, and sometimes impatience as a compliment... all it means is that he is producing a product that is levels above the rest & his customers CANNOT wait to get their hands on it. Or at least that's why I'm waiting just as eagerly

In case anyone is curious, for a 2004 Tacoma, the rear bumper and factory receiver weighs in at 90 lbs. The Elite rear bumper (steel) with full sides and built in receiver weighs in at 95 lbs.

I would have thought that the Elite rear would have weighed more as well. The factory rear bumper was heavier than I thought it would be, and the receiver was pretty stout.

I haven't pulled the front bumper yet to weigh it, but once I do I'll report back on front factory vs Elite front (and which options it came with).

Does anyone know if you can leave the factory receiver hitch on with a Elite rear bumper. Or you you have to take it off to make the bumper fit.

Not to steal your question (IM INTERESTED IN THIS ALSO)

To add on... is there still a hole to get to your factory spare tire & have that work still??

I have yet to mount my rear (waiting for the paint to dry), but I just checked. It looks like to mount the Elite rear bumper with the factory receiver it probably won't fit. The factory bumper hardware/brackets are thin and contoured for the straight lined receiver mount to fit into place. When I removed the three bolts (each side) that holds the factory bumper bracket and receiver in place, neither actually moved. They were wedged in there that tight! With my wife holding the receiver/bumper I had to aggressively work it off the frame. I'm not saying it that iw won't fit perfectly in place, since I haven't tried it myself, but just from looking at mine, you will have to do some modification.

As far as a cut-out to access the spare tire, the Elite bumper is NOT notched. I'm hoping that by not mounting the bumper flush, the notch below the tailgate will be enough of a gap. I'll find out this week.
