Are the Elka 2.0's worth the extra $400 over the Fox 2.0's? My only experience with aftermarket suspensions are the factory fox shocks on a TRD Pro and the OME BP-51's which were both great.

It will see dirt road daily (I live on one) but think fire road quality going 50+. Washboard and large pot holes. That's about it. Thanks for any insight on these.

    Stock-ish
No real difference in my opinion.

Seems like most splurge and get the 2.5's. But I think the 2.0's will be more than adequate for my needs.

I have personally never ridden in a Tacoma with 2.0s but I just upgraded to Fox 2.5 Resis from Accutune and for the needs you described in the OP they are literally exactly what you want

If it were me I'd go with the elkas but they would hold up better in the Canadian environment.

I will say at first, which dealer are near you, if you need service in 1-2-3 year you want to keep labor/shipping rate low.

There nothing wrong with Bilstein, Elka, Fox, King.... they are all great in each $$$ bracket range.

It's more what you are doing now and what you maybe want to do in the future.....

For myself at first i was heading for a set of Bilstein it was under 1000$ for a complete set and i said to myself that this will be enough for my need....
I spend some time with the 4x4 shop owner and he explained to me all the type of shock/spring/piston. What brand exist and what you can do with them. Because you can "pimp" your shock with different valving, spring rate too. He asked what i'm doing with the truck, if i want to "add" some weight one day..

He can do repair and revalving so King, Fox, Elka can be rebuilded in shop at 3km where i live so i had soooo many choice.

After a week of thinking, seeing all i needed on many forum about the performance and how people use their shock. I "wallet crying" spend 5x my budget to get the 2.5 DC with reservoir from Elka... Why??? Because i have a wide range of use... It's my daily so city highways road is 90% of my driving time. But in the summer i do camping so washboard and off-road for hour is to be considered too... I drive dry alone and i drive with 4 people with 300 lbs in the bed too. The damper control is sooo handy in these situation. Deflating the tyre with fixed damper on shock give you some play when condition change but 3-4 click on the reservoir and this is something else.
