I purchased an ELM 327 Mini Bluetooth OBDII adapter and had planned to use it with Torque app on my android phone (Droid Razr M).

Problem is I can't get it to pair with my phone. It sees it and attempts to pair. It sometimes asks for the PID for device. I have tried both 1234 and 0000 and it still won't pair. The phone comes back and says "Could no communicate with OBDII".

    Any ideas?

Yeah, an android phone. I've tried my Galaxy s5 active, my fiancé HTC m8 and my asus tablet. Nothing works, which makes me think it's the reader.

Yeah, I have tried my Droid Razr M phone and Asus ePad with no luck either... Looks like I'm going to be working a refund as well.

Do you have one that you think you are going to try next?

I am not sure...the one I ordered was supposed to be the best one, so I may try getting another one like it. Maybe a faulty one? If not, I will probably get the ultra gauge, I was really hoping to stay away from a wired gauge though.

Well.... I got my ELM327 to pair with my phone finally. I'm not sure what I did right to get it to work, but I removed the "OBDII" BT device from my BT settings on the phone, then I actually started up the truck and plugged in the OBDII adapter and immediately did a search of BT devices on my phone. It found the device and asked for a PID. I entered "1234" and it immediately paired and the device moved up into my "paired devices" list on my phone. It didn't actually show as "connected" like other BT devices do on my phone, but when I started up the Torque Lite app, it saw the BT device and connected with the ECU and got data! Now that it is paired, it connects every time now without any issues (although it never does show as "connected"). As I said, I'm not sure exactly what made it work, but it now does. It could be that the device is only available to pair with for a short period and you need to search and pair as soon as possible. It may be that the truck needs to be running and data flowing to pair successfully (although now that it is paired the truck does not have to be running to get connected). It could be that I actually was connected previously, but did not know it.

In any case... Try some more with different PIDs, doing it as quickly as possible, with the truck running, etc. Maybe you will have some luck as well.

@gearcruncher... Thanks. That thread had a lot of good info! Not sure why I didn't find it with a search.

    Thanks
