I just in here and for sure the grey wire mod has already been done but they ran the extension deep with the other cables all taped up together. and for sure the diff doesn't lock currently when in 4H. Should I cut what's already been done here and try to make my own ground again to see if it will work? also will the remaining other side of the wire (not ground) be hot and potentially a fire starter?

okay for sure it only engages the Elocker in 4L currently I can hear the actuator when it trys. I put it in 4L and engaged the Elocker and wanted to see if I could shift into 2H and have it stay locked but the second I pull it from 4L I can hear the actuator hit to removed the locked diff. Tried to trick it but it knows when I leave 4L and it drops the locked diff

Add a ground to that extension and see if the locker will engage without being in 4lo.

Ohhhhh maybe this grey wire mod pre existing work was actually a repaired grey wire 0.0 that would make sense. For whatever reason maybe the last owner went back on this mod and what I’m looking at is a repaired spliced wire. I believe it used to be like glued fixed diff before my ex blew it up and we had it rebuilt new again

when you say add a ground you just mean jimmy Jack into the grey wire once again and make it into a ground ? Or like a 2 way Y split in the wire ?

Forgive my mechanical ignorance man I’m on day 4 of converting from the powersport junkie into the repair supplier

I peeled back the tape to get a look at what’s going on. I’m gonna cut and cap the grey wire leaving at the top, discard the mending, and connect the new ground where the green circle is gonna hit AutoZone rn to get some of this small gauge wire

Good work- that's the right move. Mixing gauges like that is not awesome.

WOOT WOOOOOT grey wire mod was a success! Super stoked. I know its one of the easiest jobs out there but this helps me gain faith in the idea of doing my own work from here on out and not getting taxed by the shops over and over and over.

Appreciate all your guys insights !! Thank you all. She'll be capable of duning now with locked diff 2H and less likely of getting completely stuck n screwed in the sand.

Ordered the new front diff actuator im gonna try and bust that down on Sunday to regain ability for 4WD. Hopefully that resolves inability to gain 4wd and im getting rear paddles this week. ol yeller should be ripping it up at Glamis this time next week!!

Also ive lost taillights 3 times now. the whoop action just cracks off the plastic little mounting tabs that bolt the housing to the body. Just ordered new brake light housings only 90$ for two. I also got bunch of plastic JB weld im gonna try and reinforce the mounting tabs inside brake light housings to make them less likely crack and fall off when im slamming on trails. If anybody has another way to reinforce the mounting tabs im all ears and open to ideas
