Hi all, I’m looking at possibly purchasing a 2021 Tacoma this fall/winter. Ive looked for 2020s in the TRD Sport or Off-Road 4x4/V6/Access cab configuration on MULTIPLE dealer websites and contacted and a handful of dealerships and the access cab thing seems to be a challenge. Some dealerships have seemed incredulous as to why I wouldn’t want a double cab.

For those of you who have shopped Tacoma’s previously how likely am I to see 2021s configured like this in dealer inventory? I know it’s crazy times right now with the pandemic and all. Also, if this is like some mythical truck that can’t be easily had, does anybody have experience with ordering a truck from Toyota?

I’ve ordered 2 trucks, it’s possible. Basically you have to figure out what config you want (it has to be a valid Toyota config) and they can either use one of their allocations or trade with another dealer to get you what you want. Typically it’s a 2-6 month process.

inventory is super limited right now but it is slowly starting to trickle back.

Toyota has a system of distributors that control regions of the US. Some of those regions choose to order allocations of some configs and limit others.

The ACLBs will be out there.

Well, if a dealer has it or one nearby they can get it. They try and push what they have though so they might tell you some BS. You can get an allocation for what you want and it will be sent to a dealer but that takes some time and should be a last resort.

Welcome to TW! I "ordered" (look up allocation in some of the TW threads) my 2020 Tacoma Sport, AC, MT in February and received it two weeks ago. It was a long wait, but well worth getting exactly what I wanted. If you've got the time and money, I recommend you try and "order" what you want and see what comes of it.

DMZ, question for you on that. Did you have options for a sliding glass window on the back glass or a power sliding window? I can’t ascertain if those are specific to the double cabs?

The slider comes with the Sport, OR, Pro, and Limited. I think it is an option on the SR and SR5?

Only DCs get the electric slider as standard. Manual only for ACs.

    It is my favorite window.

What tonered said. There's no reason to get an electric slider if you have an Access Cab.

10-4. Thought the electric slider would be a sweet perk for my backseat rider (dog) but can for sure live with a manual slider. Thanks for all the input!

I ended up ordering my 2020 access cab sr5 with the rear electric slider window among other options like with the tonneau cover. I looked and looked nobody had one in stock. Dealers told me nobody buys access cabs anymore, their hard to sell.

And no one buys DCLB, MTs, 2wd, RCLBs, sport trucks, 4cyl MTs, ext cabs / ACLBs, etc.

Keep hacking away at the 5%'ers and there will be nothing left but the Toyota Ridgeline . . . with the exclusive, heated steering wheel.

Don't always believe what this guy says. He sometimes drives around with a keg of beer in his cab.

I asked the Dealer in my area for the model number of what I was looking for put that number in google search & it will show you who has it & you can call them direct see if it’s still there that is what I had to do to get what I was looking for & flew there to get it & drive it home Good luck.

What region are you in? I managed to find several in New Mexico throughout the state when I bought mine right before COVID changed everything.

That really is impressive. You could fit two if you were 4'8"

Well, thats when i ordered mine in january. No one in the northeast stocked one with the options i requested...only one dealer had something close, but it was a 4 cly. manual. You get all the dc short or long beds of various trims and colors you wanted.

The first pic is the seat about one notch forward of the normal spot for me (6ft). The second was my first time hauling a keg in the cab. The seat is way forward and not even touching it.

That's alright. We have a Forester. You gotta make choices, right?
