It was my father-in-law's birthday present to himself a few days ago. Him (74) and Grandma (97) will be rolling in style now. It's the first new style one I've seen up close. Not too bad for what it is.

Still not sure why they make them in the US but don’t sell them on the domestic market.

The same could be said about the Odyssey? I kept trying to convince my wife that it would be been the best baby hauler. It was was offered with an MT, I would have argued wayy harder. We ended up with a used volvo wagon instead and both agree that we made a mistake passing up the new Subaru 2.5GT MT wagon that we test drove.

Access cab is only made at the Texas plant on a special run when they have enough to set up for. I had to wait along time for my specific order with quicksand color another special ticket item. order and wait thats about all you can do. I hope your dealer is a high volume dealer. the only time an access cab is a bummer is in a grocery store parking lot.

Just get an sr with or without the SX. Package/sr5 ac and upgrade accordingly. My Sr 4x4 is an awesome little pickup 20200725_142926.jpg

Edit. Actually at present, any tacoma seems hard to get brand new. My son is looking and they want about 3-5k more than I paid. Apparently inventory is low and the dealers are charging a premium for them.

When I bought my truck I wanted an access cab. Told the sales dude exactly what I wanted, was figuring it would be a while before they found it.

Called me the next day to come pick it up. Had 37 miles on it.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Good luck with your search! I bought my 2016 TRD Off Road access cab, with 6 foot box, used from a dealer when it was only one year old and had 6,000 miles on it. Trade in from first owner for a Tundra. I specified it had to be Off road model with access cab and a 6 foot box and 2016. If even one of those did not match, I was not buying it. So I got very lucky.

I used a local used car buyers online search engine to specify what I was looking for, then just waited for matching trucks to show up on lots, or private sale. Took 3 months, and a used one with my specs popped up and I bought it the same day. Got a very good trade in price too for my car.

Every time I think about buying a 3rd gen including an access cab. I'm reminded of the transmission, diff howl, fragile windshield, fuel pump recall, wind noise, and the possible half eaten sandwich left inside the dash during assembly. All of the 2020 access cabs I've looked at to see where they was manufactured have been in Baja California. I doubt if any of those complaints are specific to Tacomas built in Mexico, or U.S.A. The other day I saw about 42 white, and silver access cab Tacomas. This was at the shop where they are outfitted for Orkin and Terminex, never knew that place was there.

Mine was built in Mexico. I have a 2020. Sure hope I dont have a half eaten sandwich in my dash somewhere. Is this even a real complaint? I'd like to see that thread. So far I don't have any issues.

I think I read that on here somewhere. Is that true, IDK is that believable? Yes, that is believable. Somebody might have taken a stealth dump in a truck when it was on the assembly line. I hope not. All are important questions that should be brought to the attention of the salesperson.

I have had my 2016 TRD OR access cab for just over 2 years now and I bought it used. I have put 40,000 miles on it, with 10,000 of that off road. I only had one issue with the truck, a big clunk going over speed bumps. Some guys have changed out the front motor mount to fix a similar issue. In my case I changed the shocks all around to Bilstein 5100's as I had kicked the crap out of the stock Bilsteins offroading to the point they were leaking. Have not had a single noise from the truck since installing the 5100's many months ago. I have had the same complaints as some about the transmission hunting for gears, but after the software updates even that is a non issue now.

All in all very happy with the truck, especially considering how hard it has been driven off road. This is also my 4th 4x4 over the last 35 years, so I have a lot of experience with other brands and their issues. I was in the bush a few months ago, and talking to a guy who had just traded in his new RAM for a Tundra. He said he did that because he had his RAM at the dealer for 4 different recalls and finally got tired of that. He told me the new RAM was in the shop more than it was on the road. He had not had any issues with the Tundra and had driven it 6 months.

The only question I asked my salesperson was will you give me the truck for 25k out the door. Guess I forgot to raise a concern about a half eaten sandwich left in my dashboard. I have a 2002 access cab sr 250k on the clock and very few issues other than general maintenance. I'm sure I'll be fine with this one as well. Cant believe that this would be a common problem. Third genners seem to be a but more picky compared to the rest of the tacoma community. Guess the PB&J will help hold everything together back there.

Boy a guess i was lucky to order mine at just the right time....was able to receive it just short of 8 weeks. And yes i had to find a high volume dealer in the region to get it. Seemed our local dealers weren't very interested, giving me the impression it would be a pita for them to order.

I was able to find a few in my area (New England). The DC’s are far more prevalent but you can find AC’s if you look. I put a deposit on a 2020 SR5 AC V6 4WD in cement grey a couple days ago. Should be here in October. Other dealerships have some AC’s on the lots but not exactly what I wanted. Good
    luck with your search!

I'm the same ht. After owning a gen1 tundra without the electric sliding rear window i swore the next truck would have it. You can't believe how handy it becomes instead of trying to reach around you just push a button in front of you.

I must of called a dozen or more dealers in the tri-state area here back in january for an sr5 v6 auto ac in quicksand...none to be found. After i did get mine i did see a couple dealers just get similar type access cabs in stock. Don't know about now though as inventory is very tight.

I feel you bud. I live in California and when I started my search for a 2020 OR AC I kept getting all kinds of slack. They are elusive for sure. So my method may not have been the most scientific way but I went to Toyota’s website and under shopping tools I searched the inventory and started changing my zip code. Started in San Jose then SF, Sacramento, LA, Phoniex and I just kept going. If I’m spending the kind of money for a new Tacoma I’m not gonna compromise on what I want. It was right when COVID hit and they were talking about a crazy wait to order one because they shut the factory down. I ended up flying 750 miles to Oregon and got what I wanted. Unfortunately I was treated like complete shit by the dealer because they knew I wasn’t going to walk away and it was actually a huge ordeal. (Fuck you Royal Moore Toyota I ever see you on the street trust and believe you can catch these fucking hands) But in the end I paid a decent price and got the truck I wanted. That’s my story.
