Have to give credit to Cape Codder, his satoshi was the inspiration behind mine.

Since I elected to go with the honeycomb grille design from timsxr, I knew attachment was gonna be a challenge. While a 30 year Air Force guy I tend to go with the Marine philosophy, when there's no plan, just improvise.

Give the attachment some thought and decided to trace the honeycomb design on to the black plastic spacing between the letters and the cut most of the spacing away leaving the honeycomb design. This action also ensured the original spacing. I know that seems like a lot of work, but in reality, about an hour to complete the process. I roughed up the back of the letters and fill them in as Cape Codder did.

I positioned the still one piece emblem on the center of the honeycomb mesh making sure my cut honeycomb design matched the grille, once satisfied with the fit I held it in position with some very fine wire ( at 3 location, center and both ends) in between the letters. I then used clear RTV on the back of each letter ensuring good contact and that the RTV encompassed the metal mesh.

Once every thing was dry I stuck it on the truck and took it 4 wheeling on several Colorado 4wd trails. Seems to hold up, but time will tell.

Considering lights behind the grille just have not taken action to date.

Hmmm...I never thought about separating mine before. Looks good but not a big enough deal for me to go through the work.

 

so do the lights vibrate/shake at all, at any speed?

 

oh... and has anyone put Hella 700's behind a deep Satoshi yet? Any idea if they will fit?

 

I haven't noticed any shaking, but I haven't gone off road with them lit yet...

 

I havent really been around to much but they seem very solid. The brackets I used to have for my lights before weren't even close to being this solid and they didnt shake unless off-roading so I'm sure this light bar holds up a lot better.

I've asked a similar question earlier in this thread with no response.
So gambling, I've got Hella Rallye 1000's arriving Monday.
Believe they're the same size as 700's
7-3/8" Wide x 8-7/16" High x 3-7/16" Deep
If you have one, the Tranny Cooler is possibly going to be an issue
May need some customizing to fit. but I have a plan
Other than the Tranny Cooler, they should fit but MAY be low and not centered in the grill (from top to bottom)
I'm gonna mount 'em ASAP, but won't get 'em wired for a while
I'll have Pics posted here when they're mounted, maybe by next weekend
And an explanation of any alterations I had to make (w/Pics)
