    Sure, feature wise it's nice to have. :)

    Code wise, regular expression to eliminate the quotes, multi-quotes for context, then matching @username, and finally backend queries... it's challenging.

    Technically, you have to reflect a valid/invalid username when the texts is posted, so the poster knows @username is good. Right? Now you have opt-in/out option, that means that's another piece of logic need to feedback on front-end / display that if username is valid, no valid, valid but opt out. :eek: .

    Just a past projects have to deal with that, plain text were easy and worked 100%. On forum type project, i only finished with 98% match. It flunk on requote type content, I couldn't came out with another reg.expression that does it all.

    Yes, the main challenge is on the parsing, as you need looping match on all texts. So essentially, for every match item have to query DB once, may be that's why twitter is down every single day.... LOL
