Emergency brake lever pulled out too far... won't go back in

Literally did this today. To get it back in I laid on the seat as to look in the hole it came out of , took a small screw driver from the back side under the dash and pushed the spring loaded catch upwards and then inserted the brake lever. This was on a 93 Toyota pickup.

 

Use a small C clamp to press it in. Clean up the pin and apply blue loctite first.
Your drum brake pads may need replacing, or at least adjust the cable to take up the E brake slack. See the last part of this vid. 12 to 18 clicks are specified.
