Have you checked your brake fluid?

Or it could be like mine and the brake handle doesn't go all the way back in and I have to gently push it and hold for a second then it stays off. Never have bothered to look and see if there's something to loosen or tighten to fix it

Might want to top it off to the full mark and see if that helps.

ya, as you found out its a light that comes on if its just a little low and it doesn't wait for it to be at or near the low fluid level to light up as you would think it would.

also as mentioned above, sometimes if you release the brake and don't push the handle all the way in before turning it and releasing it, it can trigger the light to be on until you turn the handle and push it all the way in again

This. Having the light come on due to low fluid was like the "your pads are 50-75% done" warning sign.

unless you KNOW you have a leak, (topping off will be overserviced if your brake pads are worn,) once you replace them it pushes the fluid back up to the normal level.

My light was on for years. I replaced the entire brake system and it was still on. It wasn't until I really crawled under the dash that I saw at the end of the parking brake handle rod there is a pin that sticks out of it, it quarter turns as it comes to full close. I cleaned years of dusty grease out of the area and regreased and now it slides fine and the light went off and works well now.

    Hope it helps
