This happened to me the other day for the first time ever. To make it worse, my driveway is a hill. I knew it couldn't be frozen because it was close to 60 degrees out.
Tried a bunch of stuff, and what finally worked was engaging 4-wheel drive and then switching back to 2-wheel drive. Pretty weird tho, if it happens again im going to have to take it to a mechanic.

Didn't drive truck for 24hrs. Would not release when applying brake in reverse. So I need to figure out what to do tonight.

Interesting info from owners manual, pg 220.

2-5. Driving information Winter driving tips

"When parking the vehicle Park the vehicle and move the shift lever to P (automatic transmission) or 1 or R (manual transmission) without setting the parking brake. The parking brake may freeze up, preventing it from being released. If necessary, block the wheels to prevent inadvertent sliding or creeping."

    ...Pretty sure this is absurd

    No issues were noticeable

Brake cleaned both sides. Was nice to begin with... Only 30k mi on truck

This time it was the driver's side. 2 weeks ago it was the passenger's side.

most common issue is the backing plate that the shoes make contact with. There are raised sections that the shoes rub against, sand them down with some 1000 or 1500 grit sand paper then hit it with some brake lube. also clean and lube all of the moving parts (joints, contact pads etc). This worked for me.
