Dried beans- great shelf life, better nutrition and nobody will kill over beans.

I didn't read the whole thread but there is strong evidence that the EMP vehicle threat is VERY overblown. Getting gas will be a much larger concern.

Not quite. One can get gas anywhere, often in unlikely places. The local florists likely have an abundance stored away in the flower displays, and a little known fact about hotels is that when rooms are not in use, they are used to store 5 gallon containers on pallets. The people that know this will be first on scene to scavenge fuel, but fuel scavengers in crisis are usually polite and people wait their turn in the lobby. The EMP however causes all sorts of haywire on the Tacoma especially. The gamma ray bursts cause the magnetrons to arc against the unibody design, and if that weren’t enough the multiplex system gets fried. I’m more worried about the EMP.
