Honest. I HATE new high class trim. HATE!!!! I will advocate for hand crank windows, no power locks, no key fobs, no power seat adjusters, no carpet, no climate control, no auto dimming dame lights, bench seats, etc etc etc. I HATE the direction trucks are going with all these electronic crap. I despise this rear view camera thing, but given the zero viability with the popup camper i should look at it as a safety feature.

I WILL opt for cruise control.
I wish these came with a manual tranny. But with college kids these days, few of my workers would know how to drive it and that means they would LEARN on my truck.

Hey, you're talking to a guy whose Taco has crank windows and could not be happier! When you say no climate control, you mean no automatic shit right? You don't mean no air-conditioning? A/C is one of the few things my vehicle must have!

I can add post factory features like bumpers and winches and big tires in the years to come. So my attention is more on maximizing the parts that can not be modified. Lockers are KEY. Or that new fandangled ABS things that simulate lockers. likely better for my workers if they dont have to think to push the locker button.

The Dodge Ram Cummins is the only full-size pickup available with a manual transmission these days, though I've heard it's so shitty you're better off getting an automatic...

I'm one of the few people under 30 you'll meet who actually knows how to drive a stick shift, or as I like to call it, the millennial anti-theft device!

Go with the dodge. When offroading a heavy load solid axle are a must. May sacrifice ride quality thow. Got a 05 cummins n love it. It does have crank windows 6 spd ac is 4x60. Pulled the compressor out for a generator, and a screw type air compressor.

I'd say F350. The one I use for work is the crew long bed flex fuel with rear locker. I have to recover 2 wheel drive cargo vans that get stuck off road where I wouldn't take my Tacoma. Pulls them with no problem on street tires.

Yeah. AC is great when it is a simple on-off button.

If i could just vent for a moment. My parents visited in a lincoln recently. We were on trailridge road in typical colorado weather. I needed to defrost the window due to condensation on the OUTSIDE of the glass. That means HEAT THE WINDOWS. but those lincoln engineers know more than mother nature and there was NO WAY to put hot air on the front windwhield. NO WAY. yes, sometimes you want AC on to "defog" the inside of the window. but there are times you need to heat the window. Ask any pilot. The fricking climate control television from hell would NOT let me blow hot air. it demanded i use only air conditioning on the window. I confirmed with the dealer this was true. SO SILLY.

I really like the climate control on my 2004 taco.

EDIT: i also hate seat warmers. they make you feel like you peed in your pants. I dont see why people cant just wear warm clothes.

Plus ever since Ford started producing its own diesel engines, I've heard the reliability has gotten better compared to the previous generation's 6.4L...

I turn the heat on when I defrost the windows in my 2010 Taco, but I also turn on the A/C. It seems to make it more efficient. In my mom's 2013 Murano, the A/C automatically comes on when you turn on the windshield defogger...

I don't think HD and offroad go hand in hand. If you're looking for comfortable towing the Allison trans and IFS on the Chevy makes it a much more comfortable tow rig than most.

didn't know that. That is a plus. I even commented on all the crap below the axle.... didn't even notice because i was too pissed off by the low clearance. Still better than the ram's clearance.

Yes. I think the allison option immediately jacked the price up too high. but i agree.

For a while you could get the Allison transmission in gassers too. I know a guy who had a 2004ish Suburban K2500 LT that he bought brand new. The Burb had the 8.1L Vortec and Allision tranny. Sadly he fell on some hard times, couldn't make the payments, and lost the truck to repo...

I think we will likely not be doing anything that NEEDS solid front axle. It is nice but offset by the many miles we drive on the highway.

@Cadmus I see you like my uncle's '71 VW Bus...

I'm seriously one of only two people in my circle of friends who drive a stick (and the other one drives an 18-wheeler for a living so he has to know how to drive stick). Between my mom's side of the family and my dad's, I have six cousins, specifically four girls and two boys ranging in age from 25 to 37. There are three of us guys and I'm the only one who can drive stick!

I really wish the manual transmission wasn't dying off!

1999-2003, the Golden Years of the Powerstroke! Then the damn emissions regulations kicked in and forced Ford to start using the 6.0L midyear...
