As with many things, the president and majority share holder decided he was too busy to deal with it and to forget about it. Oh well.....

They said forget about it? I would want that in writing so they don’t try and recoup it later on...

1st hand experience, nearly the same scenario. Basically, if they had underpaid me even an hour, I would have been entitled to it, same goes the other way... We agreed to a reasonable repayment plan of about. I was insistent that the repayment money came out pre-tax.

    Fuck...
    Somewhat logical...
    Logical

    Even more logical.

Stand your ground. Its not your mistake.

Now if all is said and does the employer fire you because of lost actions.
If you are worth you buck, then no.

    Good luck

Finding an employee whom will stick around for 8 years is worth way more than 10k..

This is so old, but they decided it wasn't worth the headache and never brought it up again. And you're right, finding an employee that will stick around that long is rare in the IT industry. Anymore it seems that people only stick around long enough to make their resume look good before moving onto more exclusive gigs.

Yeah that makes sense. They probably just recorded it as an accounting or payroll error of some sort. Especially if it was a larger company that’s not very much money from their perspective. Glad it worked out!

damn, that blows. In my experience with this sort of thing they have every right to recover the overpayments from you. Time to start negotiating. Lobby for a raise to offset the costs, work an extra hour a week for overtime to repay, etc. If they're reasonable people they will come up with something that doesn't cause financial hardship to you.

This could be an opportunity to show your fortitude, innovation and devotion to the company and in the end could help you advance in the company down the line. Just play it right. Good luck!

edit: thread revivals. Love it.. Glad it worked out OP
