The 98 Camry has the mz series engine. Nothing is interchangeable. Only 3vz-fe Camry’s (92-94 I believe)

 

ahhh c*nt... camry still runs great and rips, its honestly hard not to spin the tires

 

This is an interesting idea. How much higher in the rpm range is the power band in the Camry?

Seems like you would want low end torque in a truck engine?

 

I’m not sure the curve. But your sacrifice the low for top. Most trucks ideally yes you want down low grunt. Unless your going for big numbers

(a blow would keep the low acceptable while opening the top end a lot, in theory) it’s all speculation as of now

 

Unless it's designed for top speed i guess. But the trend now with midsize trucks is to have more up than torque. Don't understand why either

 

I've heard of this swap. Never seen it done.

 

My tundra I want bottom end. My taco? I just want to embarrass people with much faster cars.

 

I'm all for that. I'm.excited to see your engine build unfold. Very few people take the time to actually build up a 5vz because they're already pretty great with just a supercharger and 7th injector. Maybe meth injection. So yeah this will be fun to watch.

Have you seen that dude.on YouTube with the turbocharged and supercharged 5vz 4runner?

 

yes. my eventual goal (much later on) is a twin charged setup with a VSV to control the bypass at a certain rpm to open for the turbo to flow as free as it can around the blower. i plan on getting back onto the taco project once i get the interior in the tundra buttoned up. goal this year is to have the chassis ready for the body so i can let them do all the body work over the winter on the taco

 

So I wonder if that set up would need the larger injectors as well as the 7th

 

oh it would. especially since id be north of 600 hp to make it worth the effort of twin charging

Yes. It’s not built. He’s running a stock engine. Mines built to handle a pretty decent amount of power.

 

Yes it's that one. No he hasn't messed with any of the internals of the engine beyond the spark plugs and maybe the injectors. I've talked to him on YouTube a few times.

 

What all have you done already to it?

 

the engine? its sitting in storage in 2 engine bags. but its done.. its got stock cams for now. once the frame is prepped for it all i'll pop the engine on and get the tranny sent out to get built.
