Enclosed Off Road Trailer Idea

I was casually looking at trailers today. Dont need one, but would be great to have one. I like that little bugger. So much potential

 

Yeah, I actually stumbled across this little trailer by mistake on Craigslist while looking for an M416. I didn't even know there was such a small enclosed trailer on the market. It's only four feet inside. Perfect to put a tent on IMO.

As soon as I saw it I gave up on the military trailer idea. I think this is going to be pretty cool.

 

I khew a guy, had one like that, he called his motorcycle trailler

 

I didn't think of that. Mine has a single door, but a ramp was an option. It would make a good bike trailer. Might get decapitated if you tried to ride it in though!

 

With the tent being ripstop material I wouldn't worry too much about that small hole. I doubt it will spread at all. If you are worried about it leaking, again I doubt it will much, but Tepui sells patch kits with small pieces of material that you can stitch in to repair things like this. You can find it under the spare parts tab in accessories on the website.

 

Well, Now all I need is the trailer...

 

I looked at the 4x6 enclosed trailers, but went with the 5x8 one. I did kitchen in the back storeage in the front, that can be accessed through the annex on our RTT. Good luck with you build!

Sounds pretty cool. I wanted to keep mine small. Just a place to put the RTT and the rest of the camping gear. POSSIBLY some beer.

Nice looking build OP. Just curious what made you get rid of the bed rack and go with a trailer for your rtt?

Few things

-Truck Won't fit in my garage with the tent mounted.

-Higher center of gravity with the tent way up there

-less weight to drive around with on a daily basis. My truck is heavy enough already...

-Won't have to worry about damaging the tent on the trail. Doubt I'll ever actually tow the trailer off road.

-Now when I go to the off road park, I can just leave the tent set up the whole time I'm there.

Guess that's about it

 

I know. He did an amazing job on that trailer. Mine's a very modest project.

 

Thanks for elaborating. Reason I asked was I am too interested in RTT but not sure where/how I would like to mount it (once I get one), and basically trying to gather as much info on the topic. Subbed to this build

 

I don't have a build thread, but you can see some pictures from our first trip. They're in the RTT owners thread post #194. Sorry I don't know how to link the post. The trailer was in its early stage. It now has a sink, hot and cold water, outside shower, solar power, onboard water, and toilet for emergencies. Also, added the CVT fanout awning. One day I'll have to take the time to add some more pictuers. Maybe when winter season comes.

 

Subd.. OP, cool project and good luck with the build! Look forward to seeing it as you progress. This is on my list for reals, gonna happen in the next year 1/2 or so. Looking at miltary trailers as well as other options. Sounds like others on this thread have some good experience and ideas to as well. Cool stuff! Thanks

Lol How serious do you wheel? i can see 2 spares on the truck at least. I dig the trailer, I'm thinking about doing something similar. Might hit you up in the future.
