Many cities can't get mass transit wright, some of them can't handle basic sanitation needs. Those same cities you won't find people walking to their destinations either.

These aren't even complex issues like the environment or GHG.

We've had a Tesla Model 3 since 2018. Only thing needed TLC was the 12V Battery to run the brain and electronics. And that's because of something dumb I did. Other than that, we recently replaced the tires. That's it in 4.5 years....

You think Akio Toyoda will make an announcement on 4/1 that him stepping down was only a joke?

What mileage intervals did you do the transmission drain and fills? My 2017 Tacoma has 17k miles, but after 6+ years I'm tempted to go ahead and change it.

If that's true you have my sympathy and I wish you a speedy recovery. I've lost a few friends and family members to that and it's a horrible thing to endure.

NO, I would argue that we lay off them until we are doing better our self. Can we do better than polluting 5x as much per person? I suspect we can, and do it without impacting out standard of living. What are we leaving for our children?

People throwing around the word science and putting it in quotation marks and everything. Like it's some kind of magic ward against evil spirits or voodoo.

Now I know how an engineer feels when people say things like "seafoam" and "cold air intake" or "1000 mile oil changes "

Bankets are a delicious Dutch pastry that my mom makes for the family around Christmas, highly recommend, definitely buy.

OP didn't really set this thread up for success with the EV comments. Hits kinda like FB posts from "that" uncle. Circular reasoning I see is usually 1. Infra (raw supplies to charging etc) isn't ready for EVs, so don't buy one! -> 2. we shouldn't build EV infra since no one has EVs -> goto 1. Horses to cars, gas stations, etc, fill in your own historical comparison about new tech adoption here. All I've heard about batteries is they are lasting significantly longer than expected. I don't own one :notsure: though I kinda want an electric smart car so I can park nose-to-curb in parallel spots and make everyone jealous.

    :crapstorm:

Anyway, no particular reason to believe QC or reliability will go to crap. Plenty of people seem to already believe it has, I dunno. I'll say that Toyota's original plan of investing in hydrogen over electric hasn't been panning out well for them so maybe some new leadership is necessary.

    lmao great episode(s)

There aren't any good looking EVs. I'd have to say Tesla model S would be the best looking EV car, and I'm not that big on how it looks. Along with F-150 Lightning as for trucks, only because it looks like a traditional F-150, but with a weird grille, I like the less detailed sheet metal on Lightning over gas F-150. I don't think F-150 is the best looking truck.

Theres also the trend that most everything on an EV is controlled through the screen, and there are no EVs that don't have tons of electronically controlled features, like cameras, and AI self driving tech. I don't want any of that BS on an EV or ICE vehicle.

yeah true, I do like how lucid looks and now a lot of makers have evs that basically look like their ICE equivalents, but yeah taste is taste.

1000% on the screen controls. My friend has an S and I just don’t trust that screen isn’t gonna do something stupid. Plus you can’t adjust things like air etc without looking away from the road.

No one one is picking on them. Just comparing emissions to clarify the futility of mandates.

The US generates cleaner energy with better treatment of people. I'm all for conserving what we can, but I think it is pure fantasy to think we can do so without impacting quality of life. Rather than trying to leave a continued legacy if excess, and disposable items of pollution, why not try raising kids to respect finite resources, live within our means, and not be entitled and wasteful? Or accept the reality that we are soft because of our luxuries and we raise each coming generation to be softer and less productive than the last while consuming more and more, and we aren't disciplined or stern enough to actually correct it. You can't offend anybody, remember?

Also, we've reduced out national emissions MASSIVELY over the last few decades. It didn't slow anything down because other nations are growing exponentially. We could go carbon neutral today, and it would barely be a blip.

    I wouldn’t say a 14% global decrease would be barely a blip.

I don't like the touch screens I use now, and they are not fully integrated as there are still some physical controls.

I'd buy the 1st new vehicle to market that only uses the screen for the back up camera and navigation, if equipped. I don't think there will be any new vehicles that don't come equipped with some kind of screen.

The looks of any car are subjective. Personally I like the Hyundai iOniq 5 and Polstar 2 and the new Prius is a home run design I think.
