i have a 2006 2wd crew cab Tacoma.. I have automatic transmission and had transmission problems with my truck.. The truck would buck and wouldn't shift correctly and wouldn't go into 5th year when going 60 or higher and the RPM's would ride super high around 4,000!! So, I had to get a new transmission.. I got a used one from one that had much less miles... I also had my solenoids replaced.. A month past the new tranny now and the problems are slightly happening again... I think it may be my Throttle position sensor.. Especially because I heard about those going out around 120-150k and I have 143k... Anything other ideas?

Your probably at the point where your sick of putting money into this truck, this may be a good time to trade for a new or used truck.

I wouldn't think a bad throttle position sensor would exhibit the symptoms you have described.

I know you said you replaced the transmission, but mine did basically this same thing, plus I only had reverse half the time and it was the valve body.

EDIT: Looking at the invoice from Toyota, they also replaced a shift solenoid. Part # 35230-60010

    Start with the basics .
Was the fluid filled properly when the transmission was installed ?
Was the transmission cooling system flushed properly when the transmission was installed ?
Its a completely computer controlled transmission therefore , you need to connect a computer scanner to the assembly line diagnostic link and find out if there are any pending codes .
Performing the basics takes the guess work out of the equation .

Once you have the codes , go to this link and read troubleshooting tips
