There's alot of banter on this subject but I think the most important part is that you maintain it well.

There's a slight chance you MIGHT actually learn something worthwhile besides how to type LOL at the end of every post you make. But I doubt that.

In fact, from people who actually know what they are talking about, I have learned a LOT! This has been a valuable resource for many, including myself. And then again, some things, not so much - that's what makes me laugh. LOL

My reasoning for sticking with the OEM engine air filter is as follows:

    1. If there is ever a problem with the engine that can be traced back to air filtration, having an OEM air filter can prevent Toyota from saying, "look...it's the aftermarket filter's fault!"
    2. The OEM filter works fine as-is.
    3. There is a lack of evidence of noticeable improvements in performance gained by using an aftermarket filter.

Wix, Napa Gold, oem. No matter what filter you put in there, it's not going to make any more power.

I'm curious how big companies like K&N get away with saying their product will increase power. Even the aftermarket CAI's have been shown to produce no results and in some cases power loss. I bought the AEM dry filter and even it said it would increase power although I knew that probably wasn't the case. I bought mine because I just wanted one filter for the life of the truck.

Better would be trapping even smaller particles that when new. That might mean slightly less air intake at wide open throttle and 6000 rpm but I'm rarely over 3000 rpm.

I wouldn't suggest this to anyone wanting that extra few HP at max rpm, don't get me wrong.

The engine already gets more air than it can use while running N A
