for mud, get d60's or links coils and rockwells. but get ready to break shit anyways. I would browse this section for a while before you do anything. but fair warning. dont join and post anything unless you know your shit. 99% of the people on pirate build and fab their own stuff. and they are not nice when somebody asks a question without searching. there is alot to be learned from pirate 4x4:D:D

Links are 100% useless in mud. Mud trucks are cheap and retarded IMO. Better off with leaf springs. Coil's are for smooth riding, extreme articulation and stability.

Yes They are for stability, and most of the mud trucks ive seen need all the stability they can get lol, and because most of the trucks are turning 60" plus tractor tires, that would be really hard to accomplish with leaf springs.

Hell with it, just throw 20" blocks in the f/r :D

Leaf spring build costs like $700 for brackets and leafs, ONE COIL costs $700 lol

    Also, OP wants 40", not 60" :)

That is true, thats why I have to disagree with you saying that mud trucks are cheap lol. say you get a set of rocks for 1,000 bucks then you have to go through them, by that time you have about 3 to 5 grand in them, then about 3 grand on coilovers, plus the dom tube to make the brackets for links, joints, then tires and wheels, and tractor tires aint cheap. it adds up quick. it makes a d60 sas on our trucks look cheap ha ha:D

You don't need to do anything to rocks when you get them.. DOM isn't that expensive really.. and you don't need rockwells for mudding... D60, hell alot of people run a d44.. and just about every stupid mud truck like 1960-1980 chevy dodge ford has a d44/60 front, all you need to do is jack it up and put stupid tall tires and blocks in it.

Of course anyone can build an expensive mud truck, but why?

Not really, MOST mud trucks are piles man.. Go to craigslist and type mud truck, 99% of them are old trucks. They want like 2-4k for it. with 40"+ tires..

I been lookin at the ones with 4 linked front and rears on rockwells or 5 tons. and they are the expensive ones. i have seen the ones on leafs and d60's and honestly instead of taking the pre runner the op has and building it i would find a old 85 yota and play with it instead.

ARB has been around for a LOOOONG time and has proven trail performance. I've had experience with ARB's on a Jeep for 6 years.

And hopefully a 3.4l will do it all with no complaints.
