    Take the back roads. You will be fine whatever you do, but taking the back roads is closer to the break in suggestions in the manual. That is what I would do.

    I don't think my 07 Tacoma would make the trip across the country, sadly. So, I'll trade it in on the west coast then make the haul. Thanks for your response.

    Go to any place that transfers new vehicles. From ship to rail to trucks…. They beat the hell out of them. Buy a vehicle with 7 or so miles on the odometer and you can believe that it has already been broken in. But I would still go a little easy on it for a few hundred miles.
