Does anyone out there know how large you can bore a 2.7 liter? Tried towing through very hilly country and I was not impressed with the lack of power. Pushing the extra power button helped some but I kept losing speed just towing a 500cc Honda Shadow up hill. 4 speed auto was down into 2nd and I was still losing.

Can the 3.4 be switched out using the same 2.7 transmission, with a mod kit, if available of course?

I love the truck and it has every imaginable option I could want but we're heading out to the Rockies next spring towing a lightweight Casita camper and now I'm concerned whether or not I should be looking for a different truck? It pulls seemingly without effort on flatland.

I ordered a performance chip to see if that might help. ????????

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks.............Tom

Might come to that but I've read where the newer 2.7's weren't really new they were just tuned differently. I'm doing some checking on that.
    Thanks.........Tom

View the build. Too much to list.
What happens is as you get higher up the mountain, oxygen is less = less power. You will need a supercharger. That's about the cheapest major power gain at this point. Unless you can afford to trade for a v6 taco or tundra.
