    G'day all,

Several days ago I did routine maintenance on my 2018 TRD OR. Replaced the air filter, cleaned the mass air sensor, and throttle body; I do the mass air sensor and throttle body about every 5000 miles as I off road in dusty conditions. I'm sure everyone knows this is a pretty straight forward and easy process. However I managed to screw it up. I did not get the mass air sensor plug to seat properly and when I started the truck I got the yellow triangle and engine check light on the dash.
I re-accomplished the mass air sensor cleaning, check the throttle body connector and ensure the mass air sensor plug completely seated this time.

I'm left with the check engine light still on but the truck drives normal. While I really do not want to reset the ECM by disconnecting the battery, that seem to be the next correct step.

Is disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes the next correct step or to the shop.

    Appreciate your thoughts

    Bob

Time to consider a scan tool to have at home, lots on Amazon for under 40$

A part store near you may have cheap scanners as well. They may even clear it for you.

Disconnecting the battery should clear that code, and on reconnection make sure to turn the key to on mode, but not start it to let the system initialize. About 10 seconds does the trick, then start it.

Thank you for the inputs, disconnecting the battery cleared the engine check light as suggested by another thread on TW and a variety of input form youtube. The only confusing factor from the net is some suggest disconnecting the neg term and others suggest the pos term.
    Cheers

Thanks wilcan47. I'm pretty much an old school guy so went with the neg term, but now I have documentation.
    Cheers
