I will also try putting a fuse in with the engine computer unplugged.

I know its a long shot but could be a bare wire somewhere hitting metal. That will be the hard part finding it. Maybe check wires around the fuel pump.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
Time to bust out the wiring diagram and probe from the fuse to its connector and see if there high resistance or an open anywhere.. track that down then hunt for the break/corrision in the harness.

I plan to completely remove the bed when it warms up a bit. Just too dang cold out right now, plus I am not feeling all that great.

Also plan to remove the engine computer and see if it still tries to blow a fuse. I have a boatload of the regular blade fuses, so I am going to make a blade fuse connection to the fuse box under the hood. That way when I do figure out the problem and get it resolved, it's no where near as expensive to replace a single fuse.

I am having my doubts about it being inside the cab because she was driving along and it just up and died all of a sudden. It still cranks over, but it doesn't fire up. It tried to run after I changed the engine computer and found the bad fuse, but it did not run right. I am guessing it is probably an oil soaked harness like I saw on one YouTube video. But it will take a while to get it sorted out. I plan to swap the original engine computer back into the truck to see if it tries to run or still blows the fuse.

Bought the truck yesterday from prev owner. It’s all licensed and insured. Drove it almost 60 miles and it blew the fuse again. I did figure out a pretty close area to start looking for the short.

Back side of the cylinder head by the firewall there is an enclosure that holds the harness as it goes along the back and around the head towards the front and under the intake. It’s in the first 6-12” of that enclosure where the short is at.

does anyone know of any recalls on these trucks regarding this issue? It would sure be nice if the dealership had to foot the bill to fix it due to safety.

hope everyone has a nice weekend.

I did change the type of fuse being used from the Aurora thin and tall type to an online fuse holder with a couple insulated spade connectors and using the mini blade fuses. I have bookoos of those! But the Aurora 30 amps costing $4 each sucks ass!!

I now have an extra one if you want to buy it!! Since that wasn’t the problem.
