Just like the title says every so often when making a right hand turn the engine will cut out for a couple of seconds. Its a little scary if your turning right out of a parking lot and you lose power. Any Ideas on where to look? Its been happening for awhile now but seems to be getting worse. If i recall it happened right after the reflash toyota did when they trimmed my pedal as well.

I'd try putting it in drive and moving the key in the ignition to see if there is a short there?

can you light your tires up without the truck shutting you down... cus it sounds like vsc is kicking in when it senses a tire slipping.

Check your brake light switch adjustment, or see if your brake lights illuminate when wiggling the pedal side-to-side or depressing it less than 1/4" - it's likely your accelerator interlock engaging(built into the programming of the new software your truck was reflashed with).

Is it Immediate and quick on and off??? or does a take a few seconds and during acceleration?

Electrical Short or open?? OR as stated above the fuel pump and /or injectors cutting out ??? Check your Motor and Transmission mounts? (engine shifting ...?)

Good point - Does the Engine die requiring a restart - or does it just drop to an idle ???

I agree with this as most likely... given the indications thus far.

if your truck is lifted with bigger tires it's the safety rollover thing.
The engine cuts out and there is a beeping from the dash.
I lifted mine 2 1/2" and there is one corner where I live that it cuts out every time.
It did it on my 11 Tacoma and now on my 15, at the exact same spot.
I took my rims and tires off the 11 and put them on the 15 after I lifted it, so it kind of makes sense to me.
This "safety" thing is very dangerous in my opinion. I've gotten all kinds of flames on this board because I think I know better than my truck does, but in this case I really do. I'm right. This is a nuisance at best, and it will cause accidents at the worst.
    IMHO.

You are talking about VSC, vehicle stability control, which the OP stated he does not have on his 2008. And yes, its common for lifts to adversely effect the systems function. While off topic for this thread, have you had alignments and VSC calibrations done?

You make a good point too, if the "cutting out" is smoothly dropping to idle, then my theory is almost guaranteed to be it, but if it sputters, coughs, or dies, then I'm off in left field.

My 2014 would feel like there was no communication between the pedal and throttle body accelerating out of a slow turn occasionally. Engine wouldnt stall but just stay at idle until you got your foot in it. Could last a couple seconds. Disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and drove it harder out of the turns for about 3 days till it relearned.
    No issue now.

I dont have VSC even though it does sound like that would be the issue.

I will definitely check this when the wife wakes up and the Cowboys and Pack game is over.

    No check engine light.
Its during acceleration as soon as I turn right. I dont lose power completely the engine just wont accelerate for about 1-3 seconds depending. I will press the gas and get nothing.

drops to an idle no restart required

Sounds like the switch as previously mentioned.

Does it only do it on a right turn and NOT left ??? A Friend found a baggie that got stuffed in his gas tank. IT would die only going down hill with 1/4 tank and turning left. (took him years to find this ....)

oh sorry, it still sounds like it to me. maybe not vsc persay but maybe some other similar sensor thing going on. I don't know all the jargon.
And no calibration for me, I just take it easy on that one sweeping right hander.
