Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and looking to this community for some help with my 1996 tacoma 3.4 auto with 180k. My engine is cutting out above 2500 rpm like its hitting the rev limiter, also have CEL. I have replaced the plugs, fuel filter, and the MAF sensor with no positive results. I do not have a code reader but Autozone has scanned it several times and it shows the MAF, IAT, or ECM as being the culprit. The muffler is in need of being replaced, but I doubt that has anything to do with it, just fyi. The truck is bone stock other than a K&N filter. I work on all my own vehicles but this has me stumped. Thanks in advance for any help.

Check the cluster of ground wires on the right side of intake the bolt can come lose and cause that type of problem. When did you last oil that filter?

I cleaned and oiled filter about 4k ago. I had the problem before that and did an oil change and cleaned air filter. Also did the plugs, MAF, and fuel filter at that time.

Ok just replaced the negative side cable and terminal. It was one that had the ground lead wire and fastened it to the body where the cluster of wires used to be. Engine is still cutting out.

Checked the ground wires on intake mani. They have good connection and continuity via voltmeter. Any other thoughts? hopefully not a bad computer.

coil pack wires are flexible with no cracks or burnt spots. Do I need to check the packs themselves? If so, how do you test them?
