Clutch pacs are 101 but finding good transmission shops is not as easy as one would think. Do make sure you do a Tcooler flush and flow check to make sure its not suffering from restricted flow adding to you clutch issues. Good luck.

I woulda put a new tranny in 4 weeks ago... But really, I'd put in a "new" tranny. I mean unless you are 10000000% sure about the tranny shop, I wouldn't even consider a rebuild.

At this point I’m going to let this guy try and rebuild it free of charge and see what happens. I’ll do a flush again in 500 miles. Worst case scenario it doesn’t work and I have to buy a new transmission but I’ve already paid this guy money so I’m going to exhaust my resources with him

The guy has concluded that it’s a valve body issue and quoted me $500 to send it off for a rebuild. Anyone familiar with VB rebuild and typical costs? Or even the cost of a brand new VB? Can’t seem to find any straight forward quotes on either of those on google.

The dude says he’d like to have it rebuilt. I’d imagine it’s significantly cheaper then replacing. Would you suggest shift kit even if I go the rebuild route?

I'd just clean it out. What gets rebuilt in a valve body?

If there was a problem with the rebuild and it trashed the trans. with crap, which is what sounds like happened, (maybe the converter) All it needed was whatever went out fixed and cleaned out again .......very, very closely. Like every little corner clean.

You can buy a transgo kit for under 100 bux. If you have a drill, you can do the enlargement of the hole to go down the shaft.

    ah. I concur.

They have good instructions, I did my Dodge's A518 (long ago) and it was easy. Shifted much better and shifted out much quicker than stock. Hole was to feed extra fluid to OD which was what gave me trouble.

The valve body wears out . They are made of alluminum . Every time your transmission shifts , those tiny valves stroke inside their bore . If you have a bunch of metal or clutch particles floating around in the fluid , the particles work like sand paper on the bore as well as the valving .

How do we prevent this from happening ? Keep our trans fluid as clean as possible and cooled properly

Anyone got any ideas on average cost for a VB rebuild? This dude quoted me 500 and I can’t seem to find any vehicle/manufacturer specific quotes on a rebuild through google.

Gave the dude the green light on the VB rebuild. Hopefully this puts an end to this 3 month shit show.

I see you're in Cali, but there's a tranny shop here in Atlanta that I called recently about a tranny.... used one with 144k on it was $1100 installed OTD.....

BTW, I didn't need a tranny...... just new sparks lololol who's the idiot that never replaced sparks since I got the truck at 176k with 246k on it now? yeah, that'd be me. But, I did get a transmission service, which probably would've never happened. Good Luck to you! I can give the name and number of the shop if you want
