Hey guys/gals. First off, I did search this topic, and there were a few hits but nothing substantive, so if I missed a Sticky or Topic point, just let me know.

I have a 2004 PreRunner, V6, and yesterday, had it completely die on me twice while out to lunch. Both times it happened while either rolling to a stop, or sitting at a red light. Cranks right up just fine. All the lights flash when it dies, but nothing stays on, ie Check Engine.

I had it towed to a shop and waiting on them to call, but thought I would throw it out there if someone had the same issue occur.

Haven't had any work done lately other than an oil change (two weeks ago), but I did fill up the tank 10 minutes before the first fail. Maybe drove less than a mile when it died. So something with that?? Won't be the first time I got bad gas, :). And no, I didn't put diesel in the engine.

    Thanks in advance.

Possibly bad gas? Sounds like it would be fuel related.

    Also may be alternator related.

Even though no lights are staying on, can you take it somewhere (O'Reilly's or AutoZone) and have them scan for codes thrown?

Ok, Update: lanestaco, did get it towed to AAA service center and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. No codes, nothing. However they did replicate the issue when they took it out. And besides them trying to fix things that may not need fixing, they just said, come and get it, we give up, lol. They didn't charge me thank God. Took it to a different place who I am more familiar with and they are going to try to determine what it is. Verdict is still out, but they think it could be something in the ignition. Maybe the key is backing out and the truck's computer is thinking I'm turning it off, hence no code. Bad gas has been ruled out.

My truck had the same problem. Does it shake a little before it dies? It might be that its just stalling. I put new spark plugs in and a new ignition coil in and i was set.

Similar situation happened to me, turned out to be a loose ground on the diagnostic port to the intake manifold. Put Locktite Blue on the bolt that holds the ground wire to the manifold, tightened it up and the problem went away.
