I wouldn't say it's a driving style problem if Toyota says it's a known issue. More of quality control problem that I would put money on leading to things down the road

if I called a Toyota service department and asked if I have a P0021 check engine light code in my 2020 Taco I wonder if the answer would be broken metal particals in the engine and its a known issue with us:cookiemonster:and the fix is a oil changeo_Owhat are the chances

And does the problem stop after it senses new oil?

The shavings were small, and the check engine light was cleared when they started this morning, but they did find them in the oil filter. They were small, but enough to cause the issue.

I'd be sure that the dealer documentation shows all of this, and I'd be going to Corporate with a request for an extended warranty especially for the engine. It might be a known issue but it is not normal.

I'm not sure if they are telling the truth or just trying to get the light out and you on your way .

Weird that it’s a “known” issue for 2020 engines and not 2019 engines. Wonder what they did differently when they manufactured the exact same engine. Definitely a quality control error. The fact that an oil change “fixes” the problem is scary. Good luck OP and hope this error never pops up again. Have fun with your truck. I second the idea of looking into an extended warranty.

    This is VERY concerning.
I don't normally freak out when I/other people have issues under warranty, but if this were an airplane with large metallic debris in the engine, its getting torn down.
If you can post your resulting service receipt, I would love to see it.

And I was mad they didn't warranty my headlight that's full of water. They said it's normal condensation. Get it documented
