Yeah, the oil pump pickup screen becomes plugged then you have a problem you won’t be happy about

 

would the BG engine treatment be helpful at all?
Toyota says it is due for me to service at current mileage
my engine oil is relatively clean on the dipstick at last change

 

I've heard that their fuel system cleaner is the only fuel system cleaner worth buying, for what it's worth. It's definitely pricier than most that's for sure. I've used it once, no idea if it helped or not. The smell of it will make you want to vomit.

 

i meant the engine oil additive for aged higher mileage engines
the service writer showed me his screen and the only rec's for preventative maintenance at current mileage was the fuel cleaning AND the oil additive ... the cost was about $80 for the oil treatment and I told him I would have to do some research, ... not sure if it is anything more than paying a tech to pour that in for you and markup on the bottle which they probably get bulk pricing on!

 

They always find a way for you to give them your money for nothing. If the engine develops some problems after the treatment (leaks, oil pressure etc.) then you give them even more money.
