Just because your plugs, fuel, and air filter are new, doesn't mean they are good. Just gonna toss that one out there.

When you put your plugs in, did you put dielectric on them? Did you check gapping? Are they screwed in tight, and not crossthreaded (bad day), what plugs did you use? Try resetting your coil packs maybe, check their connections.

I know the toyota platinum plugs made mine skip. How in the hell do you reset the coil packs?

Sorry, think I missed a letter, I meant re-seat them. Pull them off the plug and put em back on making sure they're on good. Also verify the connector to the coil packs are on tight.

Definitely a noticable stutter. I unhooked the battery, left it 10 mins and hooked it back up. After driving around today about 40 miles round trip it is much worse now.

First is the idle. it idles at approx. 550rom then the idle drops and goes back up to normal idle. It does not surge past what seems like the normal idle.

Second is acceleration. Just normal driving from a dead stop the truck stutters as I'm giving it gas. It finally evens out as I slowly build speed and the rpms get around 3k.

And third is during normal cruising. I keep the shifter in 4 so the tranny isnt hunting back and forth when driving around town, If I"m on the highway or gonna be at speeds over 50mph I kick the shifter over to D. If i put the shifter into overdrive the rpm's of course drop because the truck shifts. As I'm cruising in overdrive if I give it just a little gas it starts stuttering and then it downshifts and the rpm's bump up and the stuttering is not as bad. It seems to be worse with low and high rpms.

Just when I think I have it figured out as to when its going to happen, I'm cruising at 40mph, shifter in 4, and it stutters for like a second and then its fine again.

It's definitely worse at lower rpm. I'm thinking maybe the MAF is dirty or took a dump for some reason? Maybe the TPS is shot? IDK. And to address the spark plug question, I put in Autolite XP iridium plugs, gapped, and dielectric greased.

Sorry for the long post, I'm trying to explain this as best I can. Thank you for all your replies.

Mine is doing that too but I've got a 1st gen. I changed the TPS and it didn't make a difference. Changed plugs that did help a little but still doing it. I haven't messed with the MAF or fuel filter though. Mine could be completely different though cause I'm right at 200,000 miles. I'm kinda lost too with this whole thing. I'll be watching to see if you get it figured out. If I figure it out I'll let you know what to try.

I did find out what it was. The autolite xp plugs overheated and the porcelin cracked. Replaced with Toyota plugs and all is well.

And I no longer own the taco. I traded it for an 11 tundra rock warrior. The dealer gave me 20k for the taco so I was pretty happy about that. I will be posting up several items for sale soon.

Your problem with hesitation on acceleration was the spark plugs? I just changed mine about a year ago and I just changed the MAF sensor two weeks ago. I've been having the same hesitation on acceleration problem with my '06 4WD 4.0L. I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Thanks!
