Had Toyota Dealership run diagnostics, came back 361 C, replace EGR valve, modulation valve and egr vsv valve....are these 3 items tricky to replace.............shopped around a little online for best prices......what is preferred after market brands and where is best place to purchase.

    THanks

well I find most times when they suggest replacing the egr it just needs a good cleaning is all it is, there isn't much to them to go bad really so I would clean it first then if it reads bad again then replace it.

the fact they say replace EGR valve, modulation valve and egr vsv valve tells me they are just replacing the entire egr system, everything, and just "assuming" its one of these things so if you replace them all it means they should get lucky and solve the problem. im not buying that all of them are bad, you need to do some diagnosing of this stuff yourself to see wghat is realy going on.

did they test the TPS? most times things that are related to a certain throttle position turn out to be the TPS not giving a good signal in that one spot.

I never heard of 361 C ??? is that a CEL code? what CEL codes was it showing? did they at least tell you that much?

as to where to get parts, that's simple, you cant do better then rockauto.com and they carry factory oem parts (Denso) as well as popular replacement brands. the recommended and most popular parts are tagged with a red heart symbol to show you the one most people buy as well as other brands cheaper options if you just want the cheapest part.

if you want to check this out then give us a detailed "but brief" description of what it is doing, when did it start doing this and for how long has it been doing it. did it get worse over time or just start doing it one day?

there are many mechanics on this forum that can guide you in finding your problem if you are willing to follow instructions and provide the info and results of your findings after checking things as directed. this site is full of smart people willing to help others.

I had this problem too for a while. But since you had it checked out then it's probly not this. But after I did my timing belt kit, the hesitation disappeared. I believe timing was off a bit beforehand. Not sure. But if you end up not fixing it with those repairs, might be something to check as well.
