So i'm looking at buying this tacoma from a buddy of mine. It was running fine up until 6 months ago when he noticed the head gasket was leaking around the edges a tiny bit. Decided to replace it on his own before it went entirely and got coolant into the pistons. Ever since he put it back together it is running very rough. Almost as if timing is out or something similar. I has a definite miss on one of the cylinders you can hear it and it revs very shakily. Does idle smooth tho. Its also running a bit hot. The radiator is brand new as is the water pump and thermostat. I havent had the chance to do much then listen to it and watch it run for ten minutes. I havent been able to get over there again to do a compression test or check the rotor and cap even, those are brand new as well tho. I am just trying to diagnose if this is like a valve timing issue, like he got the timing chain just a hair off. Or if this is a warped head and the gasket he installed isnt sealing. No coolant loss anywhere around the head and or into the oil. I'm gonna attach a short video of it running. Also when at idle after being warmed up it was idling exceptionally high, around 1100rpm. Check engine light is not on and no codes being thrown as well. https://youtu.be/55H56y6uYkE

Sounds like a single cylinder misfire, did you double check your plug wire routing? Does it crank even like all cylinders have good compression or does it have a skip?

It cranked perfectly started right up and no I haven't had the chance to get back over there since i took the video. I was just considering buying it on a gamble. But yeah i am wondering what type of misfire it is. I dont know what bad valve timing sounds like running wise and its been hard to find any videos.
