    Update...

So... The dealership treated me well. I'm in the TRD Sport. No out of pocket clams, and the payments only went up enough to cover the fees and taxes. All in all, relatively happy.

Interestingly, while doing the deal on the sport, I got word that it appears to be a CPS issue. Really??? Didn't I tell you to check that LAST week?

Too bad you had to settle for black. That damn color is a lifestyle. I spent every Sunday washing AND waxing my black Golf GTI just to keep it looking the way I wanted it. All in all though, seems you came out ahead. Nice work. Now where are the damn photos of your new truck?!?!?:D

Thanks. I prefer the Access Cab, the SR5 was Access as well. My kids are grown, and frankly I wish I could figure out how to take the back seats out without making it look ugly. I did see a post where someone had built a platform over them (covered with automotive carpet), and I might do something like that. I play guitar, and it (they) need a safe place to ride.

I asked, they said they did. I will know soon enough. You're right, it is a pretty stiff ride. I may have to put Billsteins on her. :)

Blown SR5, gets a Sport upgrade at no cost. Sure seems like a win to me. Happy trails to you.

Yes, I think staying calm really helped. Several employees said that if it was them they would have been ranting and raving. But at my age (59 in October), I've learned that a calm assertive demeanor is usually much more productive. I just explained in no uncertain terms, that this is where we were:

    1. The reason I bought a Taco is the dependability and longevity. After all, I commute 48 miles each way. It must be dependable.
    2. If they made this right, that they would have a loyal customer for life - or more correctly 2, as my wife is a Toyota loyalist.
    3. If they didn't make it right, that our business with them was complete, and even our service will go to another dealer.
All delivered in a calm, yet assertive manner. So I think everyone handled it well.

They have a customer for life. I have an upgraded truck, but not in the color I prefer (the Inferno SR5 was very pretty), with a nominally bigger payment, and the 2 payments already made are lost. They have a problematic truck that had been in a very minor accident that they will likely have to take a loss on to resell.

So some give and take for both myself and the dealer.

Good bye Inferno, may you arise from the ashes, and be a good truck for someone.

Someone on here ordered an SR5 "Utility" model with no back seats at all, factory done. Looked great!

Glad they made it right for you. Good to see them step-up. Still an annoying situation, I'm sure. But all things considered, it seems to have ended up ok.

Had to check that out, here's what a 2015 with the utility option looks like. Wonder if you can get V6 or/and 4WD like that. Interesting. Interior shot of the back is about 1:33.

Edit to add: Looks like you can build an SR Utility in 4WD but you are limited to a 4 cylinder engine.

Thanks for mentioning that! If I don't trade for a Ranger in 2018 I'll get my next SR5 built without the Munchkin seats. :)
