    Hi All,

    I have a 99 4x4 with the 3rz and 403,000 miles.

Yoda doesnt really like winter.. Last year the front main seal cracked and the valve covergasket started leaking. Front main seal was replaced. The valve cover gasket leak is really small and not a huge concern. One of these days I will get around to it.

This morning it was about 45 degrees out, and it ran really rough for about 15 minutes, shook a bit, rough idle. Sounded just like a loud power steering pump, except that I do not have power steering. And the noise did not change with RPM, it was a consistent noise.

Anyone else have issues when cold out?

    Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Thanks,

You're in texas. If 45 is cold and your truck has issues, it would probably not run right up here in the middle of summer. 45 is tshirt weather. We were -10 + windchill last night probably pushed it to -30. Mine cranked slow for a couple extra seconds before firing, pretty normal for the temps.

With 400k on the odo, I'd say that is the actual problem. There's not much you can do short of a new(er) engine.

It was actually closer to 40.. yes I know that isnt "cold" but if the truck is used to 100 plus degress all the time 40 is a bit of a difference.

Hmm, mine makes some more noises in the -10 to 18 degree weather. Generally the PS pump is pissed about thicker hydro fluid. My 3RZ is usually just super high idling in the cold, but it becomes normal very quickly. Maybe your distributor and plugs need service if they are becoming more effective when it is hot out. Could just be getting low o compression though, no real cure for that besides a rebuild.
