    Hi Everyone
Im new on the forum look to my post in the new members section.

    I have a knocking sound on my 2013 Tacoma V6 59k miles
I bought it used on auction, changed all the oils, did a liqui moly engine flush, Ravenol DXG 5w30 syn oil change and drove almost 7k miles happy with it.

Then on a "village redneck offroad fest" i did some slides and donuts on dirt to the redline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTmXpxFAnv8 then the engine throw a p0022 Camshaft Position - Timing Over - Retarded (Bank2) code. The engine was running normal i cleared the code with my OBD HUD and the code cam back when driving. I drove it around 100miles home then the code has gone out, and never come back but the engine started to knock.
Changed my oil then started to research the web and it is not the "taco tick" its to loud but the noise is bit similar. After the code my oil got dark, but drives normal no power loss. I did clean and check the vvt solenoids and vvt filters, cylinder compression 12-12,4 bar, i took off the belt and the noise is still there. When i open the fill plug it doesn't get louder, i disconnected the coils and the noise does not change. Cut the old filter and it looks normal. Now no code, drives normal but it sounds like a diesel, its an uncommon engine in Poland and i cant get help.
I run the truck on LPG but on gas its the same problem. I drove it to a few shops no codes they can't say what's wrong without opening the engine. I ask to turn on the vvt solenoids with a diagnostic tool and the noise goes away no matter witch bank vvt turn on.
Decide to measure the oil pressure on a real hot engine 1,2bar at idle and around 4bar at 3000rpm, according to my information it is ok. I pulled out the small oil pan, and it had oil sludge on pan walls and strainer less on the engine walls. I did a second liqui moli engine flush, new oil and filter noise still there. I Pull the valve cover off and looks not so bad to me the engine flush came out 2 times not too dirty.
Im thinking that it could be the vvt Timing Camshaft Sprocket but i do not know how to check it, any ideas?

The timing chain look a bit stretched i post some pictures how much off the crankshaft pulley is when the camshaft sign line up. And pictures of camshaft marks when te crankshaft pulley set to zero.

There are no used parts and most parts for the truck are not available in Europe and i have to import them form US and pay taxes.
So i want to be sure whats wrong before i order the parts.

I did a video with the noise but its low quality sound :( this sound is best heard at the end of the video.

Please help me locate te knocking sound. Any ideas what else can i check and how to determine the sound?
Anyone know a similar situation, what could it be?

    Thanks for help

Guys, really no one can give me an answer or suggestions? I don't want to be importunate but i was hope to solve the problem through the forum.

I would say that's the vvt actuator but no matter which vvt solenoid (right or left) open with the scanner tool the noise go away. I'm not sure if both vvt actuator could break at one time? Are the timing marks ok or is the chain stretch to much? If the sound stops after switching on vvt, then what in the timing system can cause this sound?

    Thanks for the bump.

Regarding techinfo.toyota.com thanks for the info but i already did some research to get the info what Toyota dealer procedure/diagnostic steps are.
I found this page and its free
    http://manualespurdy.cisdigital.com/Toyota/Tacoma2012/rm18r0u/MANUAL.HTM/rm18r0u/index2.html
I also have a pdf 8717pages service maunal from toyota.

Will i get more information to this problem on techinfo.toyota.com.
is it worth 20$ for 2 days?

I found toyota oem parts shop in Ukraine and Russia but the parts are 3 times cheaper then in US can that be original toyota parts or fake? Im thinking about buying the vvt actuator.
On parts.toyota.com that pice is 324$ an in Ukraine around 100$ for the same part.

Take a look on the part shop
