I have a good friend that's a snap on tool
Dealer,He says the dealers have the lowest
Paid,Ect Ect techs. His advise is nothing is free
At stealers you need to find a good independent shop and use them for everything poss.

I've had some random stumblings before in various vehicles. I usually chalk it up to water in the petrol.

Sorry it has taken me so long to follow up on my truck. Took it to the dealer as I said and these guys were top notch. The service manager was very concerned and actually put two techs on the problem immediately. These guys went through everything and I mean everything. The service manager invited me to watch the whole process from the viewing area with my truck like 6 ft on the other side of the glass. Both he and the two techs were constantly coming back to me asking me all kinds of questions also to find the problem. They drove it several times around the city and came back and immediately ran more tests. The problem did rear its head a few times on driving around town so they knew I wasn't making something up. After the last trip around town and back in the shop I started going through my log book.... I keep immaculate records of everything. I noticed on my next to last entry that I had gone to a different gas station than I normally do and thought about it for a while. The service manager came back in and I asked him to check for water in the fuel. As it turned out, the tech was just starting to pull a sample of gas as we were speaking.
And yep....very minor water in the gas left over from that fuel stop. As I had already fueled up again with 75 miles left at my regular gas stops ....there was enough of the bad gas left to cause the issue. The service manager said that they had had a recent rash of this problem in various locations around the area not just an isolated case. But, he had been told that the gas issues had been resolved before I came in and waited till the last check to find the water in the gas. So after a couple of more tank fulls it cleared right up.

Again, this dealer service tech and crew were very very responsive and dedicated. I was glad of course it wasn't something more serious and also glad I kept a great log book and finally re-checked it. Thanks for everyones in put. I hope everyone has as dedicated service manager as I have encountered.

Yeah they don't drink watered down gas very well, go figure. There was way more problems with 2nd gens, the site just had 5% of the members it has now. My 2nd gen had a laundry list of issues and my 3rd gen literally has none

That's awesome I'm glad you got it figured out. Now all these 3rd gen conspirators can shut up lol. I was originally going to say bad gas but this is a much better explanation haha. Maybe only 2nd gens can run on water...

A bit out of context, my post was when OP had no idea why it was knocking, water obviously would cause a knock. And I've owned a first gen never a problem and 3 2nd gens all problem free.

Just in time before blueT was going to come in and tell you to sell your truck because it's a POS and to buy something else

Glad to hear you got it figured out OP. What gas company was it that you bought the bad gas from?
