    Strange...

I am really just posting because your truck is nice looking. I have always been partial to the light blue and purple trim combo on the original Tacoma.

Just what kind of gate there can be so many .

Does this happen every time ??

Is the MIL tripped or is it just the light ??

    If so what code??

Strong Magnetic field could confuse the some of the sensors or the ECM

The gate maintenance crew is scanning your credit cards and cell phone.

Fortunately your truck has warned you.

Does the CEL come on when you go through the gate and then turns back off again (temporarily), or does it stay lit?

I took the pickup to Reilly Auto Parts and his code reader would not read a '95 Tacoma
going to try Auto Zone next weekend. The Tacoma is just a weekend cruiser
I will post the code when I find out.

I just bought this pickup and it's kept in a storage unit, both time I have taken it to the storage unit the light has gone off as soon as I drive thru the gate. It's the same gate used at most storage unit where you drive up to a keypad, it could be wireless???
    What is MIL?

yup when I go thru the gate which I have only done twice and both times light came on. The first time the light went on I drove it to auto parts store to have it scanned which didn't work out so I just pulled the battery positive to rest the light. I drove it all weekend (my weekend is Fri/Sat) and the light never went on, then when I took it to put it in storage for the week the light goes on driving thru the gate. I'm not going to reset the light again till it goes out on it's own or get a code, will let you know.

Me too, I just bought this pickup, it's my 65th vehicle and I love it. It has the 2.7 with a automatic and it's so much fun to drive.

That is a sharp color and accents ... the 2.7 is bullet-proof and should go forever !

Thanks, I have new decals (same as factory) from James Dean Creations because the originals are faded.
I was really surprised that the valves have to be checked on the 2.7. This pickup would outlast me.

Ok, I have it solved. I checked the positive battery cable terminal and even when it's tighten down it's loose and when I would drive thru thru the gate it has a rail you have to drive over and it would shake the truck and terminal enough to set off the check engine light.

I took the Tacoma to both Autozone and Reilly and they could not get their scanners to read my '95
