    Hi Everyone,
This is my first time posting on a thread. I have a 2005 DCSB Tacoma and lately the engine has been running rough on the start-up. The truck has 133,000 miles on it. Ive been keeping an eye on the overflow coolant level since I've found out 2005 Tacoma V6's have a potential head-gasket problem which leads to a misfire on cylinder 4 and 6, and it seems to not be changing. Anyway yesterday the check engine light came on and this morning it turned off. I'm positive there is still some sort of misfiring problem because this morning it was rumbling for 30 seconds when warming up. My question is, should I continue to drive it to have the check engine turns back on, so i can figure out what the code was, or take it in to my mechanic ASAP so I do not clog up the cats from the misfiring?

    Thanks

Definitely read the code. Decide from there.

Stop by any auto parts store and have them check for codes. Sounds like a bad sparkplug.

Without the Check engine light on will there still be a readable code?

I thought the code was dismissed once the light is turned off.

If it is the Head Gasket, doesnt that mean something led up to it failing? Or is it the design of the original head gasket that caused it to fail around this many miles.

look to see if there are bubbles coming out of the coolant res. If there are you probably have a blown head gasket.

Just curious, does anyone know how many hours a head gasket replacement would be (professional Mechanic)? If nothing else was found in the process.
