I have a new 2013 Tacoma and it has several issues. Squealing breaks when backing up, engine clatter , and a hissing noise when shutting off engine. Not very happy. John

Same here. I had a 2011 that had break issues while reversing only, tok it to a dealer couldn't duplicate it. Sold truck back to dealer only to get a 2013 with same issues as u

The noise when you shut it off is the smog pump and what brake issues are you having exactly?

Brake noise while backing up would almost certainly be your rear brake shoes in their drums. When backing up, the shoes contact the drums with a different leading edge and when only applied lightly, they will chatter, vibrate and cause a squeal. It might help to file down the edges of the shoes. But that's a lot of work for a noise that's almost never heard, And I'm not SURE that that would fix the noise.
