    A friend has a '96 base Tacoma like mine with the 2.4 & 5-speed.
At idle and standing in front with the hood open, there's an intermittent light metallic rattling coming from the front of the engine. It's usually not audible from inside with the hood closed. Otherwise, it runs perfectly.
I know one can't really diagnose this here, but are there any issues with the timing-chains, tensioners or guides on these 2.4 engines?
    Thanks.

    Happy Motoring, Mark
